Awards Ceremony

Boys

What a wonderful night we had on Friday 10 December in the lounge of the Gardenhall Public House. Congratualations to Jim McGinty who was nominated as player of the year. The other awards were somewhat tongue in cheek, although some of them were pretty accurate, or should that be near the bone. Big Dom was nominated as Big Girl's Blouse, Pat Irvine was the Brightest Most Colourful, Russell Hamilton was awarded the Frank Haffey award, however it got into a bit of a mess when he dropped it when the award was handed over. Despite all his efforts Mick Cassidy was presented with the Russ Abbott Prize for the worse impersonation of a football player. Tom 'Hi Baw' Smith was the the eventual winner in the second most contested award The Biggest Moaner, but the winner of the most contentious award ,the Usain Bolt award for the fastest runner, went to Jim 'Speedy Gonzales' Farrell. That is one prize I would have taken as a compliment, I dearly wish I could run.

A topic that was raised was how many of the membership would be interested in taking part in a walking football tournament organised by another group. If you are interested give your name to Denny or Jim McGinty, and they will collate the submissions, and a meeting can be arranged for those who are interested in time for making an entry into the most appropriate competition.

Opening Hours

The games are on this week, Monday 14 and Friday 18 December, but we will need to check up what break the staff of the Alastair McCoist Centre have over the Festive period.

Vote of Thanks

As this was the innaugaral Awards Ceremony it was appropriate that Jim Mutter should make a short speech recognising the memberships' appreciation of the work and effort put in by Denny Byrne, and Alan Foster required to get the Gerihatricksek set up with the ever expanding membership. Without their effort there would be no club, so many thanks not just to them, but also those other members who take on those simple chores that all clubs need in order to keep going. Thanks to all of them.
